 What is Drama?

Google defines drama as an exciting, emotional, or unexpected series of events or set of circumstances. Drama connects us between reality and how we wish to perceive reality.
The content included within a drama film takes basic things that happens in our daily lives and embellishes it to make it seem more interesting. The way we wish to live our lives tends to be the way drama films contain their content. They appeal to the masses as a way we yearn our life to be. We get intrigued by this way of life that seems so similar to us yet for many is nearly impossible to happen exactly.
The filmmakers use certain techniques during production that allow these films to seem relatable. For example, when filming an action or horror film you may use certain lighting or shot composition that effects the emotions we feel during the film. When filming a drama film it wouldn't make sense to use those techniques. It would make the most sense to use point of view shots, natural lighting, basic music that fits the vibe, and techniques that make it seem like a normal day.
Marketing techniques used to sell these drama films tend to be via social media. Most of their views tend to be people in younger ages who have social media. By posting on platforms like tik tok and Instagram their can get their films across and in a money sufficient way.
A more recent film that is drama based is called After. The film is based on a book about a girl who goes to college to live her life in what she assumes will be an unproblematic and fun experience that turns out to be full of pain, lust, and love. This film has many qualities that are realistic and appeal to the masses of their goal audience. The film takes place in a university in the states, with a girl not out of the ordinary who as a boyfriend and goes in with the mindset of having fun while getting a good education. Looking at this from a basic stand point that is what most 18 year old's go through and feel, thus creating the relatable aspect. To keep the reader intrigued it has a unique part about it which would be a love for a British bad boy which tends to be most teenage girls fantasy at one point in their life and to see it pan out, even in a fictional sense, catches views eyes are keeps them wanting to watch.
Another drama film that doesn't have as much of a romantic aspect is wonder. The film is about a boy who has was born with Treacher Collins syndrome, a rare facial deformity that's required dozens of surgeries during his first decade of life. Though this film does not have as much of a relatable aspect is does include normal things that most witness in our daily life like school and bullying. It conveys a real life disease that people have and allows us to learn while teaching us life lessons about inclusion and bullying. This film creates a feel good and happy ending feeling that most drama films have.
