Music Marketing Blog Post #2

For this project, my group separated it into parts. First we started with the research. We thoroughly researched different country bands, and the record companies that produce them. We wanted to understand their techniques and ways of accomplishing things within the industry. We also examined many marketing techniques to assist in guiding us on on how we wanted our project to look and what we wanted the people we present our pitch to understand from what we say.

Next, we started storyboarding and mapping out exactly how we wanted the video and PowerPoint to look. We decided to lead with social media being our sole market technique as seeing that it has the largest impact on the viewers. We decided to make a website to hold all the big information and social media pages like Twitter Instagram and Facebook to post and stay more connected with the fans. Once we figured out all the logistics, we decided to move into production.

Moving into production, we wanted to have the aesthetic of a country music video so we went back to a research, figured out what we need to do, and did it. Sofia and Kenny were in charge of production and working on getting the video footage. Once they finished filming all the shots from the storyboard, they put it into a google drive folder and I was able to start with post production.

While in post production I found that some shots didn't fit into the sequence the footage so we changed some things that was put into the storyboard, but in the end everything flowed nicely and made sense. Well in post production and editing I really focus on getting that country music video feel. A goal that our group discussed was really trying to connect with the audience, which we found was a very big deal in the country music industry. Once everything was clean and put together nicely we then focus on the presentation.

Sabrina took the lead on the presentation and our group assisted her when needed and asked. We again took what we found in our research to make sure our presentation made sense with our genre of music. After putting together all of our marketing pitches, social media, goals, and music video we saw as everything was starting to come together.

Reflecting on this project I think we had the biggest trouble due to Covid and the lack of ability to see each other in person. Besides that communication was good but definitely not great moving forward that will be something I think about more. I also think that this project was an interesting way to look at different genres of music in learn more about a genre I am not interested in and how they conduct themselves.
